"Jedan dan" (English translation: "One day" ) was the Yugoslavian entry
in the Eurovision Song Contest 1968, performed in Croatian by Dubrovački
trubaduri. It was written by Stijepo Stražičić and composed by Đelo
Jusić, Stipica Kalogjera.
The song is a ballad, the ask for just a day of happiness and wishing
many days and that everydays would be days of happiness for everyone.
The song was performed seventeen (last) on the night, following
Germany's Wencke Myhre with "Ein Hoch der Liebe" and At the close of
voting, it had received 8 points, placing 7th in a field of 17.
Dubrovački trubaduri (Croatian for "Dubrovnik Troubadours") was a
Yugoslav beat, folk and pop band from Dubrovnik formed in 1961 by Đelo
Jusić, main composer, guitar and mandolin player and leader of the
group. They were very popular in former Yugoslavia during the 1960s and
1970s for their mixture of pop music and medieval folk traditions of
their native ancient city on the Adriatic coast. Internationally also
known as 'Dubrovnic Troubadours or The Troubadours Of Dubrovnik, they
enjoyed brief popularity across Western Europe having appeared at the
1968 Eurovision Song Contest in London. Their song "Jedan dan" was
performed by their singers Luciano Kapurso and Hamo Hajdarhodžić and it
scored 7th position. Their other major hits include "Dok Palme Njišu
Grane" from 1971, and the Italian-influenced "Noćna Muzika" from 1972.
The group, in different line-ups, existed until the early 1980s when
they broke up.
Lyrics:
Jedan dan
Jedan dan, samo jedan dan
Onaj pravi presudan čudan dan
Jedan dan, samo jedan dan
Pa da bude sav život radostan
Jedan dan, samo jedan dan
Onaj pravi presudan čudan dan
Jedan dan, samo jedan dan
Pa da bude sav život radostan
Dani svi, svi ko jedan dan
Proć' će dobro znam
A ljubav moja neće
Zanju živim zanju dajem sve
Jedan dan, onaj pravi dan
To je život, pun život nije san
Jedan dan, onaj pravi dan
To je mladost, ljubav, radost stvaran san
Jedan dan, samo jedan dan
Onaj pravi presudan čudan dan
Jedan dan, samo jedan dan
Pa da bude sav život radostan
Dani svi, svi ko jedan dan
Proć' će dobro znam
A ljubav moja neće
Zanju živim zanju dajem sve
Jedan dan, onaj pravi dan
To je život, pun život nije san
Jedan dan, onaj pravi dan
To je mladost, ljubav, radost stvaran san
English translation:
One day
One day, just one day
That real, key and odd day
One day, just one day
So may the life be happy
One day, just one day
That real, key and odd day
One day, just one day
So may the life be happy
All the days, like one day
Are going away, I know
But my love won't
I live during day, I give everything to a day
One day, that real day
That's life, rich life, not a dream
One day, that real day
That's youth, love, happiness, real day
One day, just one day
That real, key and odd day
One day, just one day
So may the life be happy
All the days, like one day
Are going away, I know
But my love won't
I live during day, I give everything to a day
One day, that real day
That's life, rich life, not a dream
One day, that real day
That's youth, love, happiness, real day
