When the Church Rediscovered Israel | The Rise of Dispensationalism

When did Christians begin to recover the biblical distinction between Israel and the Church? In this clip from my full study on the Church in Philadelphia, we look at Revelation 3:9 and the development of replacement theology within church history. For centuries, large parts of Christianity taught that the Church had effectively taken Israel’s place in God’s prophetic purposes. But in the post-Reformation period, and especially through the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, interest in the future restoration of Israel began to grow again.
