Lesson 4 – Walking in Truth and Love, Part 2 2 John 5–6 In Lesson 4 of our study of Second John, we continue exploring what it means to walk in truth and love. John reminds believers that the command to love one another is not a new idea or passing spiritual trend—it is rooted in God’s revealed truth and has been part of the apostolic message from the beginning. Genuine Christian maturity is found not in constantly searching for something new, but in growing deeper in faithful obedience to what God has already revealed. In verse 6, John makes love practical: love is demonstrated by walking according to God’s commandments. Biblical love is more than emotion or good intentions; it becomes visible in the way we live, obey God, and care for one another. Truth, love, and obedience belong together—truth directs our walk, love shapes our relationships, and God’s commands show us how that love becomes concrete in everyday life. The lesson leaves us with a simple but powerful challenge: Truth is not only believed. Love is not only felt. God’s commands are not only known. In Christ, all three are walked. Join us as we continue this verse-by-verse study of 2 John and discover how this short New Testament letter speaks powerfully to the Christian life today.
