Part 4 — the final part of this lesson (Grade 10 Algebra 2, Unit 1, Lesson 1): how to find and interpret the average rate of change of a function, with two worked examples. 📚 Series: Part 1 (Intro) → Part 2 (Graphs & VLT) → Part 3 (Linear Functions) → Part 4 (this video, final) ✅ Answers to this video's practice problems: For f(x) = mx + b with a positive slope: for any x₂ greater than x₁, f(x₂) − f(x₁) = m(x₂ − x₁), which is positive, so f(x₂) is greater than f(x₁) — the line is always increasing. The same logic with a negative slope gives an always-decreasing line. For f(x) = √x: f_avg[0,1] = 1, f_avg[0,4] = 0.5, f_avg[0,9] = 1/3. Pattern: the average rate of change keeps shrinking as the interval widens — the graph keeps rising, just more and more slowly.
