You want to be loved. So why does everything in you want to run when someone gets too close?
You grew up being the independent one. The child who never asked twice. The teenager who handled everything alone. The adult who could love someone deeply but suddenly needed distance the moment the relationship became serious.
This is a POV story about dismissive-avoidant attachment — how emotional self-reliance can become a protective habit, why intimacy sometimes feels threatening, and what happens when you finally recognize the pattern.
Through childhood, relationships, emotional shutdown, and the difficult process of learning to stay, we explore what it feels like to want connection while instinctively pulling away from it.
Avoidant attachment is not a diagnosis, and independence itself is not a problem. Attachment patterns are complex, can have different origins, and can change.
Sometimes the hardest thing isn't loving someone. It's letting yourself need them.
