Brands Hatch - Crash and Action - Formula Ford Festival - October 2026

One of my favourites every year, the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch where drivers compete to be the best through a knock-out style format of races. This year the weather was against us in almost every way, filming was really difficult this time out so I can only apologise for some questionable clips. Saturday was disgustingly wet with heavy rain non-stop starting around midday, then whilst it was dry Sunday the wind was really strong, making it hard to keep my camera steady. I can't really complain in reality because at least I didn't have to get inside an open top car that basically sits on the floor whilst driving around a Brands Hatch shaped river; impressive driving from everyone in those conditions to mostly keep it on the black stuff! Sunday seemed to be a day for taking each other out, with no last chance race this year it was a shame to see so many big names eliminated in the Semi-Finals, I think the final could have been a lot more competitive than it was. One of the accidents involved Rick Morris who at the age of 79 gave flying lessons a go into Paddock Hill bend, fortunately Rick was okay after quite a scary incident. Congratulations to Jason Smyth for becoming the first back to back FFF winner, now its time to look on towards this weekends Walter Hayes Trophy where we go again at Silverstone; after the racing this weekend and some of the driving standards presented, its definitely going to be interesting...
