FALL OF PHOBOS 🔴🌑🤘🏻
Phobos is doomed.
That part is not fiction.
Mars’ innermost moon is slowly spiraling inward, moving roughly *1.8 meters closer to Mars every century**. Scientists expect that, tens of millions of years from now, Phobos will either **break apart under tidal forces* or eventually collide with Mars. NASA has even suggested that some of the long grooves across its surface may be early signs of structural stress.
Phobos orbits incredibly close to Mars — only about *6,000 km above the surface* — closer to its planet than any other moon in our Solar System. Its orbit is not stable forever. Mars is gradually pulling it inward.
And if Phobos is torn apart before impact, the debris could temporarily form a *ring around Mars* before pieces eventually fall toward the planet.
That is the FACT
Then comes the FI
What would it feel like if a moon could understand what was happening?
Imagine Phobos circling Mars again and again...
Every orbit slightly lower.
Every passage slightly closer.
Mars growing larger in the sky.
The tidal forces getting stronger.
The fractures spreading deeper.
The grooves widening.
And still Phobos keeps moving.
It cannot stop.
It cannot turn away.
It can only orbit.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Until one orbit becomes the last.
In *FALL OF PHOBOS*, the repeating bass pulse represents that orbit — relentless and unavoidable.
The heavy guitars are the growing gravitational stress.
The faster motifs are the tightening spiral.
The crying melody is Phobos itself.
And when the structure finally begins to fail, the music starts breaking apart with it.
Maybe Phobos crashes into Mars.
Maybe gravity tears it into millions of pieces.
Maybe, for a brief time, Mars gains a ring made from the remains of its own moon.
Science does not yet know exactly which ending Phobos will receive.
But it knows this:
*Phobos is coming down.*
And there is something strangely emotional about that.
A moon named *Fear* falling toward the planet named for **War**.
Mars is not chasing Phobos.
Mars does not hate Phobos.
Gravity simply keeps pulling.
And eventually...
Fear comes Home.
