In December 1944, as Germany’s Sixth Panzer Army drove through the Ardennes, American forces around Krinkelt, Rocherath, and Elsenborn Ridge faced a rapidly collapsing front and powerful armored attacks. This World War II documentary follows the 2nd and 99th Infantry Divisions as they withdrew from exposed positions, fought to keep vital roads open, and rebuilt their defense on the high ground of Elsenborn Ridge. The key was not artillery firepower alone, but the connection between forward observers, communications, infantry positions, and multiple artillery battalions that could concentrate fire on German approach routes. From the fighting around the twin villages to the coordinated barrages on the northern shoulder of the Battle of the Bulge, the story shows how terrain, controlled withdrawal, and integrated U.S. Army artillery helped disrupt the German offensive and deny the Sixth Panzer Army the breakthrough it needed.
