Visa raised its quarterly Class A dividend to $0.78 after reporting fiscal 2026 results. Its annual dividend payments were well covered by a simple free-cash-flow calculation, but dividends plus repurchases exceeded that same cash-flow figure. What does that tell us about dividend safety and capital allocation? We trace the cash: $23.728 billion from operations less $1.671 billion in property, equipment and technology purchases = $22.057 billion in derived free cash flow. Visa paid $5.112 billion in dividends and repurchased $20.451 billion of Class A shares during the fiscal year. The new $0.78 dividend was declared after that fiscal year ended, so it is not part of the historical $5.112 billion paid figure. Calculations and interpretation are Dividend Lantern’s; the source figures are Visa’s. This is an educational analysis, not personal investment advice.
