His main research lies in the fields of Korean Buddhism, East Asian Yogacara and translations of East Asian classical lexicography. He is Publications Chairman for the BDK English Tripitaka, author, editor of works on Korean Buddhism and practitioner of Zen meditation, following Korean Seon Buddhism.
