Tibet Today (2026) From Tashilhunpo and Pelkor Chöde to the road leading to Everest and the monastery of Rongbuk, the film follows the transformation of a region where ancient religious traditions meet modern infrastructure, surveillance and political control. But the central story is water. From the sacred Yamdrok Lake to the sources of the Indus, Sutlej, Karnali and Brahmaputra, Tibet is the water tower of Asia and increasingly one of the most important geopolitical spaces on the continent. Roads, tunnels, railways and dams are changing the landscape at extraordinary speed. The question is what these changes mean for Tibet and for the hundreds of millions of people living downstream. The mountain, the river and the road have remained the same. What has changed is who controls them.
