ABOUT THIS PROJECT After our drill with edges we are ready to think about todays subject of the Spring Morning in Central Park. I would like to create the softness in the atmosphere so that would suggest soft edges. Soft edges need a balancing element - some hard edges and so I look at the focal area of the figures the lights and banners as the area where I will use hard edges . The combination of had against soft will contribute a lot to the overall softness of the scenE The Photo The photo was taken in the early morning when there is a softness to the air. I was looking down a major walkway in Central Park. The camera did a good job to capture the qualities I wanted. I will play with the shadows and the position of the figures as well as some of the edges of the trees to make the painting more expressive.
