Claude Balbastre: Marche des Marseillois et l'air Ça-ira (Score video)

Marche des Marseillois et l'air Ça-ira by Claude Balbastre, performed on pipe organ, with sheet music. Born in 1724, Claude Balbastre was a prominent French composer who lived between the late Baroque period and the early Classical period. He studied with Claude Rameau (Jean-Philippe Rameau's brother). He was appointed organist at Notre-Dame de Paris and harpsichordist at Marie Antoinette's court. He survived the French Revolution and wrote a series of variations on "La Marseillaise". Balbastre composed two variations on the famous "Marseillois," and in the last variation, Balbastre simulated a battle with cannons and the enemy fleeing. The piece ends with another famous popular chant during the French Revolution.
