Collings OM2H Sinker Redwood | The Best of Cedar & Spruce??

The Collings OM2H Sinker Redwood is here — and this is one we’ve been especially excited to hear. This custom OM2H pairs a sinker redwood top with East Indian rosewood back and sides, creating a voice that’s a little different from what you might expect from a traditional Collings. Sinker redwood brings some of the warmth and softness you might associate with cedar, while still delivering the punch, volume, and projection of spruce. In this video, Scott and Taylor take a closer look at this custom Collings OM2H, talk about what makes sinker redwood so unique, walk through the custom appointments, and — most importantly — put it to the test. This guitar also features Collings’ Vintage Now neck profile, wider 1 3/4" nut width and 2 5/8" bridge string spacing, making it an especially interesting option for fingerstyle players. Sinker redwood isn’t something we see often from Collings, which made this build particularly exciting for us. It’s lightweight, airy, warm, responsive, and still has plenty of power when you dig in.
