Andy Shauf - Hometown Hero (acoustic live, Lyrics)

Luxor, Köln (Cologne, Germany), 2022-05-06, Neon Skyline & Wilds Tour 0:00 few words... 0:25 Hometown Hero (acoustic, from "The Bearer Of Bad News", 2012) So I got two records here, had them signed, a t-shirt, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow at Little Waves festival in Genk. I feel like I'm 12 and a fan again. I've learnt to love his music only over these past few months since I discovered him in the Little Waves line-up. It's this precise beauty in the music, with a smile and a tear. And the Luxor: In this venue for maybe 500 people I've seen life-changing concerts, namely N-Factor (1994), Andreas Dorau (1998/2019), Mercury Rev (2001), and now Andy Shauf. Playlist was: Neon Skyline, Judy, Clove Cigarette, Where Are You Judy, Spanish On The Beach, Twist Your Ankle, Begin Again, Livingroom, Things I Do, Try Again, Television Blue, Quite Like You, Thirteen Hours, To You, Magician, Satan, plus Jaywalker and Hometown Hero as encores.    • Andy Shauf: Full Acoustic Solo Live Concer...   - Reykjavík, Iceland Airwaves Festival, 2023 - Full Concert    • Andy Shauf - Martha Sways (Lyrics)   - Liège, Reflektor, 2023 - Martha Sways    • Andy Shauf - Changer (Lyrics)   - Liège, Reflektor, 2023 - Changer    • Andy Shauf - Paradise Cinema + Telephone +...   - Liège, Reflektor, 2023 - Paradise Cinema + Telephone + Covered in Dust    • Andy Shauf - Spanish On The Beach + Clove ...   - Liège, Reflektor, 2023 - Spanish On The Beach + Clove Cigarette + Norm    • Andy Shauf - Thirteen Hours + Living Room ...   - Antwerp/Borgerhout, De Roma, 2023 - Thirteen Hours + Living Room    • Andy Shauf: Wasted on You, ... (half of No...   - Antwerp/Borgerhout, De Roma, 2023 - Wasted on You + Catch Your Eye + Telephone + You Didn’t See + Paradise Cinema + Norm + Neon Skyline    • Andy Shauf - Twist Your Ankle + Begin Agai...   - Genk, Little Waves, C-Mine, 2022 - Twist Your Ankle + Begin Again + Living Room    • Andy Shauf - Hometown Hero (acoustic live,...   - Köln, Luxor, 2022 - Hometown Hero    • Andy Shauf - To You + The Magician + Satan...   - Köln, Luxor, 2022 - To You + The Magician + Satan    • Andy Shauf - Quite Like You (Lyrics, live)   - Köln, Luxor, 2022 - Quite Like You    • Andy Shauf - Neon Skyline + Judy + Clove C...   - Köln, Luxor, 2022 - Neon Skyline + Judy + Clove Cigarette Lyrics: Hometown hero flexing his charm With a borderline joke to the guys at the bar, And they slap their knees like they've not heard it before. Thirty-five years old wearing his badge, Nickname for life on the shoulder of his bomber That he wears as the coach of the high school team. He lights his cigarette And says, "man these things will kill me someday" Raises his glass and says, "here's to hoping" Hometown hero flexing his arm With a five-yard pass to the end of the bar He says, "i'll be right back i'm just gonna go grab another pack." Walks one block to the all-night station And steps into a situation. There's a man with a gun pointed at the nervous clerk. And before he could think, He was tackling the gunman Who hit his head and was knocked unconscious. The clerk relieved said, "oh my god You're a hero man and you should stick around 'Til the cops get here, maybe you'll make the morning news." But the hometown hero rose to hit feet, Tossed him the gun and said, "thanks, but i've gotta run I'll take a pack of camel lights and be on my way." He stepped outside the door, Heard the sirens in the distance Lit his cigarette And said, "man these things will kill me someday" Exhaled smoke and said, "here's to hoping" 2023 Norm tour: Feb 28, Crescent Ballroom, Phoenix, AZ Mar 1, The Observatory, Santa Ana, CA Mar 2, Belasco Theater, Los Angeles, CA Mar 3, Great American Music Hall, San Francisco, CA Mar 5, Sweetwater Music Hall, Mill Valley, CA Mar 7, Revolution Hall, Portland, OR Mar 8, The Crocodile, Seattle, WA Mar 10, Royal Theatre, Victoria, BC Mar 11, Orpheum Theatre, Vancouver, BC Mar 12, Kelowna Community Theatre, Kelowna, BC Mar 14, Winspear Centre, Edmonton, AB Mar 15, The Jack Singer Concert Hall in Arts Commons (The Jack Singer Concert Hall), Calgary, AB Mar 16, TCU Place, Saskatoon, SK Mar 17, Burton Cummings Theatre, Winnipeg, MB Mar 18, The Cedar Cultural Center, Minneapolis, MN Mar 20, The Raccoon Motel, Davenport, IA Mar 22, Thalia Hall, Chicago, IL Apr 20, Brooklyn Steel, Brooklyn, NY Apr 21, Union Transfer, Philadelphia, PA Apr 22, Haw River Ballroom, Saxapahaw, NC Apr 23, University Theater ODU, Norfolk, VA Apr 24, 9-30 Club, Washington, D.C.
