A Lecture on Gas Hydrates by Shri. Adesh Kumar, ED- Asset Manager ONGC.

Nowrosjee Wadia College, the flagship of the Modern Education Society, is a pioneering educational institution based in Pune, Maharashtra, dedicated to the cause of higher education for almost 90 years. The post graduate Department of Petroleum Technology is running the M. Sc. (Applied) course for last 33 years and it is a unique course in India which trains students to work in the oil industry. The present-day global energy requirements are being met, to a large extent, with the help of primary conventional energy sources like coal, oil and gas. As a result of the present-day energy crises and increasing gap in the demand and supply, the nations have been compelled to initiate intense exploration for hydrocarbons. This has triggered the search for the alternate non-conventional energy resources such as gas hydrates, coal bed methane and shale gas. Keeping in mind the present Oil and Gas Scenario, The Lecture Series on Unconventional Petroleum Resources has been organized in order to provide the students a platform to interact with the oil and gas professionals. These Industry academia sessions will help them build the confidence to step in the industry with sound technical knowledge. The topic of the day was Gas Hydrates and we were fortunate to have Mr. Adesh Kumar as the speaker of the day. Mr. Adesh Kumar completed his chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, roorkee(1980-1984). He is Currently holding position of Asset Manager-Rajahmundry Asset. He is responsible for achieving targets of oil/gas production, development/exploratory drilling and well services. He has also headed the project management office of ONGC at New Delhi which basically monitors all E&P projects of ONGC. He has co-authored a book titled Principles of Artificial Lift and over 15 publication in international/ national journals. He has written and edited a extensive technical manual titled as Technical Manual for Production Operations.
