Zach Smith and Kris Drew break down what a Fahey start means for Ryan Day, the Buckeyes’ playoff hopes and the Saturday night showdown with Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans. Sayin hurt his throwing arm in Ohio State’s 19-15 win over Indiana on Oct. 17, and the school has said he is out indefinitely. Fahey replaced him late in that game. Ryan Day described the freshman’s debut as “a little overwhelmed and drinking through a fire hose” and said he “went in first” ahead of Tavien St. Clair because of his “moxie.” Day has also said he will “play the guy that gives us the best chance to win.” Fahey’s longtime QB trainer, Ryan Porter, has made big claims about his upside.
