Welcome back to my Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Campaign Playthrough! I'm still working on improving the videos, so feel free to leave me some tips or feedback! If you have any suggestions on how I can improve the video quality, audio, commentary, or thumbnails, I'd love to hear them. I'd also like to know what you'd like to see next! Achievement runs, ranked games, or something else? Let me know in the comments! Today, we continue the Yodit Campaign with Mission 4 – Broken Stelae. After weakening the Aksumite Empire and defeating Dagnajan, Yodit's path now leads her across the Red Sea and towards the important coastal city of Massawa. But Massawa is controlled by Gidajan, the son of the fallen King Dagnajan — and he is determined to stop Yodit from advancing any further. Yodit has landed on the arid coastline with a clear objective: drive Gidajan from the region and open the road to Aksum. But conquering Massawa will not be easy. The countryside is controlled by the remnants of the Aksumite Empire, while several ancient stelae are guarded throughout the region. Capturing and holding these monuments will provide valuable resources and strengthen Yodit's position. At the same time, Yodit must win the support of the local tribes. By visiting their villages and gaining their allegiance, she can turn potential enemies into powerful allies who will join her fight against Gidajan. With the help of her Arabian allies and the forces gathered throughout the region, Yodit must build an army strong enough to cross the river, break through Massawa's defenses, and destroy Gidajan's city. The road to Aksum is almost open. But first, Massawa must fall. Can Yodit unite the local tribes, seize the ancient stelae, and finally destroy Gidajan's stronghold? Join me as Yodit's campaign for revenge moves closer to its final destination in Broken Stelae! 👍 If you enjoy the video, don't forget to Like, Subscribe, and Turn on Notifications so you never miss another AoE2 adventure! 📌 Game: Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition 🎮 Campaign: Yodit ⚔️ Mission: 1.4 – Broken Stelae 📅 Historical Setting: c. 10th century AD 📍 Location: Massawa / Red Sea Coast 🏹 Civilization: Ethiopians 📜 Historical Note The story of Yodit, also known as Gudit, comes from Ethiopian traditions surrounding the fall of the Aksumite dynasty. The historical Yodit is a mysterious and semi-legendary figure, and the surviving accounts about her are inconsistent. Age of Empires II uses these traditions as the foundation for a fictionalized campaign following Yodit's rise from exile to power. In Broken Stelae, the campaign moves towards Massawa, an important port on the Red Sea. The scenario portrays Yodit taking advantage of the division within the Aksumite Empire following Dagnajan's defeat. Her next major opponent is Gidajan, Dagnajan's son, who controls Massawa. Yodit must first secure the support of local tribes and establish control over the ancient stelae scattered throughout the region before launching her assault on the city. The stelae themselves are inspired by the monumental stone monuments associated with ancient Ethiopia and the Aksumite civilization. In the scenario, they serve an important strategic purpose, providing Yodit with additional resources when captured and held. The mission's ultimate objective is to destroy Massawa and defeat Gidajan, clearing the way towards Aksum. The scenario is, however, a fictionalized interpretation of Ethiopian history and legend. The specific events, military campaign, characters, and alliances depicted in Age of Empires II should not be taken as a literal reconstruction of historical events. #AgeOfEmpires2 #AOE2DE #Yodit #YoditCampaign #BrokenStelae #Ethiopians #Aksum #Ethiopia #Massawa #RedSea #AfricanKingdoms #AgeOfEmpires #Campaign #RTS #StrategyGames #Gaming
