Ricky Stoddart works through his top nisai pond of Miss Toyota and Saito, setting a strict line on how many fish stay in for super-sized growing through to nisai. Along the way he checks a striking batch of Taniguchi Sanke, the Golden Corn grow-out fish, and his Kanno Chagoi, Karashigoi, Kawari and Tamasaba.
Ricky opens with an update on the grow-out reviews he is working through, including Dainichi Toyota fish that have come in at less than £500 with growing included and a 49 cm Hi Utsuri pulled out the day before. He explains the adjustments being made after a heavily stocked pond, such as clearer wording on what is offered, cheaper early growing returning through the events, and stricter attention to size differentials. He then looks over escapees from the Kawari pond re-netting, including Kumonryu, a Doitsu Chagoi and a Ginga type. He also shows the Golden Corn Grow Out event fish, 30 in total with 9 available for a short time at the event price with growing to the end of March.
A special batch of Taniguchi Sanke throws his plans, and Ricky decides it deserves a full Sanke selection video of its own. He then gets the net into his best nisai pond, deciding largely by eye and getting down to 20 fish, and moves in a few fish of his own, including NND Showa and an NND Super Kindai. Ricky also mentions a Sakai Scorpion Showa that might go to his bottom pond. As the light fades he splits out Kanno Chagoi, from a Sakai Super Mango Chagoi female crossed with a Marusei Ginrin Soragoi, along with Saito Karashigoi and Taniguchi Kawaris. He brings in his nisai Tamasaba to grow with the Kawari and releases them, then turns to the Karashigoi, aiming to keep about 30 to 40.
