Hebrew Lesson 5: Family Vocabulary and Numbers Live

Max said gdola. But it came out as agdola. Then he said ktana and that came out as ketana. Both words start with a consonant cluster. There's no vowel before the g in gdola. Hebrew doesn't put one there, even if your brain wants to. This is Lesson 5 with Max, a live Zoom class working through family vocabulary, numbers, how to say your age, and a few expressions Israelis actually use. No vowel goes before the ג. Same with קְטַנָּה. If you add one, you've changed the sound. כֻּלָּם is everyone else. כּוּלָנוּ includes you. They are not the same. Age in Hebrew: say the number only. אֲנִי בֶּן חֲמִישִּׁים. That's it. When someone who died is mentioned, the polite thing is זִכְרוֹנוֹ/זִכְרוֹנָהּ לִבְרָכָה.
