This is the only boss in souls like history that I have fought that has (FOUR PHASES WTF)and it doesn’t help that phase 4 He literally has a move to negate every ability in your entire kit,Mofo even takes your gourd and drinks from it. It’s bullsh*t because you spend half the game farming enemies to afford good armor sets and leveling up your skill trees to get more moves enhanced spells etcetera so the game doesn’t get dry asf which it ends up being anyway. Now I’m sure I have missed a few secrets being there’s a billion but still the game should not be this grindy for it to mean jack sh*t in the final battle lol. Plus Leading up to that mofo you fight 5 bosses(that all have gimmicks)one of them is a hopping grasshopper thing on the map which ends up being a stamina and relic inspection boss being the 4th. Only thing cool about these bosses is the reveal of the trailer armor set. The rock parry is useless, ring of fire is useless,Since you constantly need to be moving and dodging,And every transformation is trash even when you level up the transformation tree.(If you max everything out then it becomes good) But It comes down to being a stalling tool used mainly to by time for other abilities or dodge fatal boss attack patterns same with ghost step. Spirits are cool but it takes two summers for them to come back(I’m talking phineas and ferb summer break)Long story short some are good and some are bad it all depends on your play style. You have spirits that decrease charge attack time buff crit damage etc. Immobilize is top tier but most enemies break out of it fast unless they are standing idle any other way you freeze them they will break out fast. Pluck of many is good (AFTER YOU MAX IT OUT) but even then it’s mad expensive unless you use the spirit and gourd that reduces the cost even then it’s half your mana bar. Pillar stance is a lie and is not worth the points, The attacks whiff to much and has really slow start up frames on finishers. It’s high risk with little reward. Looks really cool though :) Smash stance is decent you can muscle through attacks if timed right but risky asf so it comes down to using thrust stance. Thust stance gives you a ranged triangle attack that stuns with a follow up light poke combo. With the regular light combo you hop back and perform the ranged triangle attack.Say you get hit you send out a mirage that explodes (if you have the skill) and you get the follow up attack anyways. (It gets dry quick but it gets the job done for every boss in the game.) And Finally Wukong stance,Basically when you use wukongs staff he turns into a dynasty warriors character. Depending on how many times you mash square your triangle ender will be different utilizing all moves from all stances. I’m lvl104 and barely graced a quarter of the skill tree(the grind is brutal). Also you need to dump points in all dmg and crit abilities and defense otherwise this game can be very unbearable at times. Enemies have a lot of health plus hit hard asf. Also enemies that fly will sometimes fly over hazard zones making them unable to hit forcing you to back up or straight up leave an area. Chapter 2 is a testament to that last part. Now in terms of graphics the game looks really good like 20/10 good it’s up there with god of war, uncharted, demon souls and more. The story of course is pretty on brand with the og story with twist here and there. The music slaps 10/10 especially the headless monk (forgot his name)around chapter 2. But there’s a problem you only hear music when it’s related to a story driven area or a fight. I was hoping it was going to be like a Bethesda game or ff7remake where you have a soundtrack for each zone and as you encounter enemies you will get a remixed version of the zones theme. Also I hate how wukong is silent I was hoping he would open up over time like cloud in ff7 but I guess not. (By the way the reincarnation in the book talked) Every now and then my game will drop hella frames to where I’d have to restart the app but it’s rare. Plus there were weird armor clippings doing certain scenes with certain armor and characters aswell as npcs frozen in place in areas they claimed to have left but…their character model is still there lol. You can also pop and cheese enemies through walls with thrust stance (no complaints here)but outside of that there weren’t to many game changing or exe. killing bugs. Right now I’m giving this game a 6/10 I might give it a 7 depending on the ending. I could go into more but China might shut my ahh down lol. All jokes aside though for game sciences first big game this is pretty special. Oh and btw game science this is not and action game this is an rpg souls like..And a good one :)
