In this relaxing Christian history documentary, we journey into medieval Bohemia to follow the complete story of Jan Hus, the poor student who became the most heard voice in Prague a full century before the Reformation. Long after reform had already stirred in Prague, Hus was given charge of Bethlehem Chapel, a large plain chapel set aside for sermons in Czech. Trusted by students, poor priests and even the queen, he argued that Scripture must judge wealth, power and even popes, while believing he was serving the Church he criticized. Surrounded by clerical wealth, university rivalry, the Western Schism and the sale of indulgences for war, his refusal to be silent turned a loyal preacher into a condemned heretic in the eyes of a council. We'll explore every major chapter of his story, from the Czech preaching at Bethlehem and the writings of John Wycliffe to the forty-five articles, the Kutna Hora decree and the German exodus to Leipzig, the three popes of Pisa and Constance, the ban on private chapels, the indulgence controversy, exile and De ecclesia, the chalice of Utraquism, the safe-conduct and trial at Constance, the sentence on 6 July 1415, the protest of Bohemian nobles, the Hussite Wars under Jan Zizka, the Compactata of Basel, Lipany and Jihlava, and the later memory claimed by Martin Luther. From the crowded chapel in Prague to the lakeside council at Constance and the wagon forts of Bohemia, we'll follow the complete tale of conscience, language and faith that turned condemnation into a movement no fire could unmake. Told in a calm and soothing style, this video invites you to relax, unwind, and drift off to sleep while experiencing the quiet world of Bethlehem Chapel, the castle exile, the prison letters, and the cup shared hand to hand. Please note that while the narrative is thoroughly based on historical research, its primary purpose is storytelling for entertainment and relaxation. As such, it is not intended to be used as a formal academic or scientific source.
