Ghazwa of Buwat | Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the Quraysh Caravan | Early Seerah

Explore the Ghazwa of Buwat, an important early expedition in the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In Rabi' al-Awwal, 2 AH, the Prophet ﷺ set out with approximately 200 companions toward Buwat to intercept a major Quraysh trading caravan led by Umayyah ibn Khalaf. Historical accounts describe the caravan as having around 100 Quraysh men and 2,500 camels. The Prophet ﷺ reached Buwat, but no direct encounter or battle took place, and the Muslims returned to Madinah. The expedition's white banner was carried by Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (RA).
