Public Service Broadcasting — 'They Gave Me A Lamp,' Live on Soundcheck

The English outfit called Public Service Broadcasting builds its records around archival and documentary sounds, then layers in live drums, guitar, banjo, bass flugelhorn and electronics. Their current album, "Every Valley," is built around documentary sounds of the mining communities of southern Wales — the boom and its subsequent collapse. Watch Public Service Broadcasting play "They Gave Me A Lamp" live in our studio. You can hear the full in-studio performance and conversation on the Soundcheck podcast: http://www.wnyc.org/story/public-serv... Soundcheck is hosted by John Schaefer.
