Jesus and the Holy Spirit: How Do We Live Like Jesus? | College Street Church

What does it actually mean to live like Jesus? Is following Jesus simply about trying harder to imitate his example, or is something more needed? In this message in our Holy Spirit series, we explore the relationship between Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Jesus modeled a life completely dependent on the Spirit of God, and throughout his ministry we see the Spirit empowering him with wisdom, authority, compassion, courage, and supernatural power. But Jesus was not the only person in Scripture empowered by the Holy Spirit. Moses, David, Ezekiel, Saul, and Samson all experienced the Spirit in different ways. Their stories reveal an important truth: God's power does not automatically produce God's character. The Spirit's power must be carried by a heart that is surrendered to God. Jesus shows us something greater than simply a life we should try harder to imitate. He shows us what is possible when God's Spirit fills and transforms a person. As we continue this series at College Street Church in Newberg, Oregon, we will explore who the Holy Spirit is, what the Spirit does, and how the Spirit makes it possible for us to live the kind of life Jesus calls us to live. Series Big Idea: Jesus modeled the life for us. The Holy Spirit is the one who makes it possible. 📖 Scripture: John 14-17, Luke 4, Acts 1, Matthew 3, Numbers 11, 1 Samuel 10-16, Ezekiel 2 #HolySpirit #HolySpiritExplained #ChristianSermon #CollegeStreetChurch #NewbergOregon #Jesus #HolySpiritSeries #Christianity If this message encouraged you, subscribe for more biblical teaching each week from College Street Church.
