Join us on our retirement journey as former Floridians who packed up and moved to Iowa! What a culture shock. As we continue exploring the state's rural towns and hidden gems, our adventures bring us today to Buckeye, Iowa.
Tucked away in Hardin County, this tiny community first got its start around the turn of the 20th century when the railroad pushed through the area, opening up trade and travel for local settlers. Today, with a close-knit population of around 86 residents, Buckeye captures that quiet, peaceful pace of Midwest living where everybody truly knows your name.
We love uncovering these forgotten chapters of Iowa history one town at a time—let’s take a stroll down Main Street and explore Buckeye together!
