Which Jaguar models are worth buying used in the UK, and which year should you avoid? In this video we count down five: the Jaguar XK (X150), the XJ6 Series 3, the XK150, the Mark 2 and the E-Type Series 1. For each one we name the version to look for and the year or version to avoid.
You will hear why a blocked air conditioning drain can mean taking the dashboard out of an early XK, why the 2.8 litre XJ6 and the Series 2 are the ones to be careful with, why the Moss gearbox with no synchromesh on first gear matters on the XK150, the Mark 2 and the early E-Type, and how to spot a so-called 3.8 Mark 2 that was built from a 2.4 body. We also look at why the earliest E-Types, the flat floor cars, were worth more than the standard cars in Hagerty UK's analysis.
Every price in this video comes with its source and the month it was published. Some of the buyer's guides are a few years old, so use the figures to compare the right year with the wrong one, then check current adverts before you buy.
Tell us in the comments: which of these five Jaguars would you put in your garage, and have you ever owned one from the wrong year?
⚠️ General information, not a valuation or financial advice. Prices are quoted from the buyer's guides named below on the dates given, not current asking prices. Always get an independent inspection and check the exact car's chassis number and paperwork before you buy.
