On 14 October 2026, Saudi Arabia executed two Bangladeshi workers in Makkah for an unspecified "indecent act" in a mosque. Bangladesh learned from a press release. It asked six questions: what was the crime, where is the verdict, how were they killed, where are the bodies, did they have a lawyer, did they ask for one. Not one has been answered. Senior analyst Akram Naeem Bharoka explains why, in Saudi Arabia, a death sentence turns less on the crime than on whether anyone is there to ask. This is not the viral "honeymoon couple" story, which fact-checkers have shown to be false. The real case is darker: two cleaners arrested in August 2023 on cybercrime and adultery allegations, executed three years later under ta'zir for a different offence, with their sentences left blank on the prisoner list Saudi Arabia handed to Bangladesh two weeks before. Drawing on 35 years in policing, counter-terrorism and investigation, retired IGP (BS-21) Akram Naeem Bharoka puts Saudi Arabia's death penalty through four questions every investigator asks: What was the crime? What was the evidence? Was there a chance to defend? Was the punishment written in any law? In this film: The case of Nazrul Islam and Sweety Akhter, and the six unanswered questions Executions since 2015: a record 356 in 2025, more than 2,000 under King Salman Hadd and ta'zir: four witnesses against one judge's discretion, and the ta'zir penal code promised in 2021 that still does not exist MBS in March 2022: "no penalty without a law."
