The 72x versions of the IBM Selectric typewriters employ a multi-pass cloth ribbon cartridge instead of a film ribbon.
Keeping in mind the rarity of CRC (so-called "bicycle-style") Selectric III film cartridges, the SRS-style Selectric II cartridges are the only other ribbons still being manufactured for the Selectrics, but these are one-time-use only and their continued manufacture are not guaranteed.
Being able to reload the 72x cartridge with new cloth ribbon means these older, original model Selectrics have gained a new lease on life and promise to be a sustainable way to keep these machines running well into the future.
What you'll need to reload your 72x cartridges:
Bulk Ribbons from Fineline (or other supplier): https://finelineribbon.net
8/32 or equivalent size machine screw, nut, washer and wing nut (see your local hardware store).
3D print these parts:
Center Hub Insert:

Wide Hole Side Plate: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/dbb...
Electric screwdriver with 1/4"-drive drill-bit chuck (to wind ribbon).
Tweezers or needle nose pliers (to handle metal ribbon hub ball).
Thin jewelers screwdriver (to push out metal ball from ribbon hub).
Nitrile gloves.
