Chapin High School Mighty Husky Marching Band Tournament of Bands 2011

The Chapin High School Mighty Husky Band performs at the 34th Annual New Mexico State University Tournament of Bands in Las Cruces, New Mexico on November 5, 2011. Chapin High School in El Paso Texas is one of the smallest schools in the 4A UIL category (AA in the TOB rankings), and as such is at a disadvantage compared to larger schools in the same league. However, I was very impressed by this performance and enjoyed it immensely, even though the judges apparently did not. GO HUSKIES! Shot with a Sony HXR-NX70U that I tested and then rejected because of multiple, crippling design flaws. Although the 1920x1080 60p PS 28 Mbps mode produces smooth, non-interlaced motion capture, the camera suffers from problems with auto-focus, auto-white balance and optical SteadyShot compared to my beloved and recently damaged HDR-CX550V. One serious flaw with the NX70 was the varying sharpness across the field of view; notice how objects on the right side of the image are noticeably blurred compared to the center and left side. Please excuse the changes in color balance during the vid where I struggled with the WB.
