My journey from PSW to LPN to RN in Canada was not straightforward.
I started working as a Personal Support Worker, became an LPN, and eventually became a Registered Nurse. Along the way, I failed the NCLEX twice before finally passing.
In this video, I break down my real nursing journey, including:
• What working as a PSW was like
• How I transitioned from PSW to LPN
• The difference between PSW and LPN roles
• Working as an LPN in Canada
• Preparing for the NCLEX
• What happened after failing the NCLEX twice
• What I changed before trying again
• How I eventually became an RN
• Lessons I would share with internationally educated nurses and anyone trying to build a nursing career in Canada
If you are currently a PSW, LPN, internationally educated nurse, nursing student, or preparing for the NCLEX, I hope my experience helps you understand that your nursing journey does not have to look perfect to be successful.
