Harivansh Rai Bachchan - A narration of his life story taken from his own autobiography

Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a great Hindi poet who lived between 1907-2003 . He was born in Allahabad and later became English Lecturer in Allahabad University . His first wife died young which had a devastating effect on him . He also did his doctorate from Cambridge in 1954 on W B Yeats . He married Teji a Sikh girl from Lahore after a dramatic meeting in 1942 . His elder son Amitabh Bachchan rose to be the biggest star of Hindi cinema and continues to rule the field at age 84. Harivansh had a successful career as poet in which he wrote more than 20 books of Poem for more than 50 years and his poem 'Madhushala' became a rage when he published it in 1933 and became a star poet in which the audience across North India were enthralled for many years and it continues to be popular . He also wrote his autobiography in four volumes -Kya bhoolon kya yaad karun , Nid ka nirvan phir se , Basere se door and Dush dwaar se saupaan tak which also became very popular as it contains his life story and the history of that era . He shifted from Allahabad to Delhi in 1955 and was officer on special duty in Foreign Ministry for many years . He was awarded Sahitya Academy award and also Padma Bhushan . He was nominated member of Rajya Sabha from 1966 to 1972.
