The tropical wave has gone, the water is flat, and I finally get the swim I have been waiting almost a week for. Meads Bay is my favourite beach on Anguilla, and at noon on the 1st of September it was very nearly empty — a few people up towards Carimar, a few at the far end, a few having lunch. By early afternoon there were boats in the cove, more boats behind those, and music across the water. I walked the whole length of the beach and back, and then I got in the car and drove to Rendezvous Bay, because it was quieter there. Lunch ended up being at Coconuts. This entry has an argument in it. Low season on Anguilla really is as empty as people tell you — for a few hours a day. I would rather show you that than pretend it is empty all the time.
