Iron Mountain Road Mount & Rushmore | Too tight for a big truck?

🏞 In this episode we visit Mount Rushmore National Memorial in Southwestern South Dakota. We drive the Iron Mountain Road where we get multiple views of the memorial before we even arrive, walk the Presidential Trail, visit the Sculptor’s Studio, and learn about the history and people who made the monument possible. Our visit occurs in late May of 2025. ⛺ While in the area we camp at Game Lodge Campground located inside Custer State Park. This campground has attentive hosts, large sites, and extremely clean facilities. The site we stay in (site 5) has electricity, but no water or sewer. There are two dump stations, one that is a bit tight, inside the campground itself, and an additional dump and water fill station located a short distance down the Wildlife Loop Road that can be used by anyone staying in the state park. This campground has paved sites that are pretty close together and is located in an open area where viewing bison is an almost daily occurrence.
