This is me Shahbaz Roy and you’re watching ​⁠ In this video, I take you on a brand-new experience aboard the newly upgraded Millat Express, travelling from Mandi Bahauddin to Bahawalpur. Millat Express has long been an important train for passengers travelling between Lalamusa, Faisalabad and Karachi, and this journey was particularly special because it came at a major turning point in the history of the service. The date of my journey, 1st October 2026, was also the scheduled date for the privatisation ceremony of Millat Express, with its operation being transferred to the private company Railpass. However, because some internal matters between Pakistan Railways and Railpass were still pending, the final handover was extended to 15th October 2026. The biggest attraction of this journey was the newly refurbished/upgraded rake of Millat Express. The coaches looked fresh and considerably improved compared with the old rake, giving passengers hope that the overall travelling experience would finally become better. But unfortunately, there was a major problem. Despite having an upgraded rake, there was no Power Van attached to the train on the Lalamusa–Faisalabad section. As a result, the newly refurbished coaches faced a serious shortage of basic electrical facilities. During my journey, there was no proper lighting inside the coaches, which turned what should have been a comfortable journey in upgraded coaches into a rather unpleasant experience. Having brand-new coaches but being unable to enjoy basic facilities such as proper lighting was certainly disappointing. This is why the question arises: What is the benefit of upgrading the coaches if basic passenger facilities are still missing? For passengers travelling between Lalamusa and Faisalabad, the absence of a Power Van has been a longstanding concern. The upgraded Millat Express rake made the situation even more noticeable because passengers naturally expected the new coaches to be accompanied by the necessary facilities. In this video, I show you the actual condition of the train during my journey and share my experience from inside the newly upgraded coaches. Railpass — A New Chapter for Millat Express With the upcoming transition to Railpass, there is now hope among passengers that the service will receive the facilities and standards that travellers expect from a modern passenger train. Railpass has assured passengers that they intend to provide the facilities that passengers are entitled to and improve the overall travelling experience. The coming days will therefore be important for Millat Express and its passengers. Will the new private operation finally solve the long-standing problems? Will passengers receive proper lighting, electricity, cleanliness, comfort and other essential facilities? And most importantly, will the upgraded Millat Express finally deliver the experience that its brand-new coaches promise?
