The Class 507 and 508s - A Journey through the archives from 2022 to 2024.

Nearly 2 years ago today, Merseyrail retired all of its Class 507 and 508 EMUs in favour of the Stadler built Class 777 units. The Class 507 pioneer, 507001 celebrates 2 years of preservation this year having been bought by the Class 507 Preservation Society which I can proudly say I have the privilege of being a member of. Many of us have missed the sights, sounds and smells that these BREL built units brought to the table. They made Merseyrail into the reliable, efficient and safe service which we all knew and to that we owe the men and women of BR Holgate Works for their incredible work constructing these units to last as long as they did, 46 years. In 2022, I took it upon myself as an enthusiast to dedicating my time to capturing the last of these units before their retirement. I spent 2 years doing this and in that time I met and made many friends and made most importantly great memories.
