✨ Easy Halloween Cookies with Oreos! ✨ Looking for an easy Halloween cookie recipe? These rich, fudgy chocolate cookies are packed with crunchy Oreo pieces, with soft chocolatey centres and slightly crisp edges. The perfect homemade Halloween treat! 💗 The best part? These Halloween Oreo cookies are super easy to make - no mixer or complicated steps needed! Can't find Halloween Oreos? No problem! Regular Oreos work just as well. Add some colourful sprinkles or candy eyeballs for a fun, spooky twist, and you've got a delicious Halloween treat! 🎃 INGREDIENTS 170g unsalted butter, softened 110g dark brown soft sugar 100g granulated sugar 1egg 1 tsp vanilla extract 160g plain flour (all-purpose flour) 45g unsweetened cocoa powder ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) ½ tsp fine sea salt 10 Halloween Oreo cookies, roughly chopped, plus extra for topping (optional) 👩‍🍳 INSTRUCTIONS 1. Mix the softened butter with both sugars until smooth and creamy. No need to whip! 2. Add the egg, vanilla extract and mix until combined. 3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt. 4. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and gently fold until just combined. Don't overmix. 5. Fold in the chopped Oreos. 6. Scoop the dough into balls and place on a parchment-lined baking tray, leaving plenty of space between them. Press a few extra Oreo pieces on top. 7. Chill for at least 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C conventional (350°F) or 160°C fan (320°F). 8. Bake for 10–12 minutes for regular cookies or 11-15 minutes for extra-large cookies. The edges should be set, but the centres should still look slightly soft. 9. For perfectly round cookies, gently swirl a round cookie cutter or a bowl (depending on the cookie size) around each cookie while still warm. 10. Leave the cookies on the baking tray for 10 -15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. ✨ BAKING TIPS Use softened butter, not melted. Choose a good-quality unsweetened cocoa powder. Darker cocoa gives the cookies a deeper colour. Don't skip chilling! It helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much. Every oven is different. Use the temperature and baking time as a guide, but look for set edges and slightly soft centres rather than relying on the timer alone. The cookies may look slightly underbaked at first, but they'll firm up as they cool. If using candy eyeballs, add them after baking unless they're oven-safe.
