Explore Auckland, New Zealand on a walking tour through Parnell, Auckland Domain, the Auckland Museum precinct and Auckland CBD. Follow the city streets from Beach Road and Spark Arena to Parnell Rose Gardens, through historic neighborhoods and parkland, before returning through the university district to Queen Street and Auckland Town Hall. This Auckland walking video connects the eastern city centre with Parnell’s gardens, churches and residential streets, the grounds of Auckland War Memorial Museum, and the green spaces of Auckland Domain / Pukekawa. Experience central Auckland beyond the waterfront, with a street-level look at its neighbourhoods, architecture, parks and public spaces. 📍 EXPLORE THE WALKING ROUTE Beach Road, Spark Arena & the Old Auckland Railway Station The walk begins around Beach Road in Auckland’s eastern CBD, exploring the precinct around Spark Arena, Mahuhu Crescent, Mahuhukiterangi Reserve and the Old Auckland Railway Station. The station area includes Te Taou Crescent, Te Taou Reserve and the railway station memorial gardens, before the route continues east along The Strand toward Parnell. Parnell Rose Gardens & Dove-Myer Robinson Park From The Strand, the route reaches Dove-Myer Robinson Park, home to the Parnell Rose Gardens, also known as Parnell Rose Garden. Explore this part of Parnell around Gladstone Road, with garden paths and green spaces between the city and the harbour. The wider garden precinct includes Nancy Steen Garden, the entrance near Judges Bay Road, and Fred Ambler Lookout, with opportunities for views toward Waitematā Harbour. Gladstone Road, Parnell Streets & the Cathedral Precinct The Parnell section continues through the Gladstone Road, Alberon Reserve and St Georges Bay Road area toward upper Parnell Road. This neighborhood brings together residential streets, local greenery and the cathedral precinct around Holy Trinity Cathedral and the historic timber church St Mary’s-in-Holy Trinity, near the St Stephens Avenue intersection. Auckland Museum & Auckland Domain The walk then heads toward Auckland Museum, formally known as Auckland War Memorial Museum, through the Maunsell Road and Titoki Street approach. Discover the museum precinct and the surrounding grounds of Auckland Domain, including the parkland around its memorial forecourt and Auckland Domain Cenotaph. The route continues through the Domain’s lawns, mature trees and wooded paths toward the city. The wider Domain also contains the Domain Wintergardens, glasshouses, fernery, ornamental ponds, duck ponds and historic tea kiosk area. These are neighbouring park attractions rather than a promise of interior visits in this video. University of Auckland, AUT & Queen Street Returning toward central Auckland, the walk reaches the Grafton Road and Grafton Gully area and the University of Auckland City Campus, near the Sir Owen G Glenn Building. The final section explores the university district around Symonds Street, Wellesley Street East and AUT City Campus, continuing toward the Mayoral Drive–Rutland Street area and finishing near Queen Street, Auckland Town Hall and Aotea Square. 🏛️ MORE LANDMARKS AROUND THE ROUTE Nearby places to explore include St Paul’s Church on Symonds Street, Auckland Central City Library, Lorne Street, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, Albert Park and The Civic theatre. Around the Parnell and museum approach, you’ll also find John Kinder House, Ewelme Cottage on Ayr Street, and the Jubilee Building, Parnell Library and Parnell Farmers’ Market precinct. These locations provide additional neighbourhood context; not every nearby attraction is a stop or an interior visit. Whether you’re planning an Auckland travel itinerary, researching things to do in Auckland, exploring Parnell walking routes, or enjoying a virtual walking tour of New Zealand, this city walk offers a closer look at the streets and green spaces connecting downtown Auckland, Parnell and Auckland Domain. 📍 Location: Auckland, North Island, New Zealand 🚶 Route overview: Eastern Auckland CBD → Parnell → Auckland Museum → Auckland Domain → University District → Queen Street Subscribe for more New Zealand walking tours, city walks and street-level travel videos. #Auckland #NewZealand #WalkingTour #Parnell #AucklandDomain
