January 7, 2025. 11:00 PM on the historic Avenida de Mayo (intersection with Santiago del Estero). Waiting for the airport-bound Route 8 bus in Buenos Aires is a true test of nerves! I’m standing at a bus stop, waiting for the elusive Route 8 to take me to Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). [The Transit Challenge] For anyone traveling in BA, you know the struggle: there are multiple versions of the "8" bus route. Watching buses like the 86, 105, and others pass by while hoping for your specific connection is a classic traveler's test of patience! It was a tense moment of "is that the one?" until the right bus finally appeared. [Location Context] Filmed right in the heart of the city on the iconic Avenida de Mayo, near the intersection with Santiago del Estero. This area is famous for its classic architecture and bustling transit corridors. The sidewalk cafe tables visible in the footage are a staple of this historic neighborhood. [Raw Atmosphere] No music, no edits — just the authentic sounds of a summer night in Argentina, the hum of the city, and the anticipation of catching the right ride to the airport. [Transit Spotter Log] Here is the breakdown of the action captured on camera: 1) Route 8 (Piedrabuena Branch), #740: The "imposter" bus. Note the confusing signage — the route is marked as "8" but with "Ex-Line 5" lettering (a remnant of recent route renumbering). Specs: Agrale MT17.0 (chassis). Note: Unlike the classic heavy diesel "rumble," this model features a distinct electronic idle hum, likely due to modern power management systems. Also carries a subtle "Malvinas" commemorative decal on the side. 2) Route 105, #49: A quick pass. Featuring the signature blue livery of the 105 line. Likely an Ugarte bodywork — classic Buenos Aires style. 3) Route 103, #unknown: Spotted in the distance turning to Santiago del Estero. Red livery (the color variety in BA buses is like a Christmas tree!). Most likely a Colcar body, similar chassis configuration to our Route 8 bus. Listen for the pneumatic "sighs" of the air system as it turns. 4) Route 105, #42: Another fast-moving unit in blue livery. Matches the model style of #49. 5) Route 86, #1100: Caught passing by without stopping (since no one hailed it). Specs: Older generation body style. Clear Mercedes-Benz star on the front grille — a reminder of the classic MB chassis dominance in the city's history. #BuenosAires #Colectivo #BusSpotting #TransportePublico #ArgentinaTransit #CABA #BusLog #Route8 #Agrale #MercedesBenzBus #StreetLife #BuenosAiresNight #TravelArchive #Argentina #BusSpotting #EZE #AvenidaDeMayo #CABA #TravelArgentina #NightRide #RawFootage
