Vibraphone & Muted Trumpet Noir Jazz — Rain Outside the Old Cinema

Vibraphone and muted trumpet noir jazz for a rainy autumn night — two hours of slow, vintage detective jazz outside an old 1940s movie palace after the last show: a marquee still burning, soaked autumn leaves on the sidewalk, and a red neon glow shining in the puddles. Put it on to relax, read or work late while it rains. The last show let out an hour ago. The marquee is still burning — somebody forgot to throw the switch, or somebody wanted the sidewalk lit. The letterboard is blank, like the theater ran out of things to promise. He waits just under the edge of the canopy, dry by a foot. Out on the street the rain keeps its own time. Inside, the projectionist is rewinding the reel: same picture every night, same ending. She said she'd be at the late show. The ticket girl says nobody bought a seat for the late show. He believes her. In this town, kid, the movies are the only place anybody tells you how it ends. 🎷 Tracklist 00:00 Static on the Radio 03:59 The City Never Sleeps 07:59 Confession Over Whiskey 11:59 Payphone at Midnight 15:59 Ticking Clocks in the Dark 19:59 Bandaged and Bruised 23:57 Newsstand at Dawn 27:57 Midnight Ferry Crossing 31:57 Subway Platform Shadow 35:56 The Smugglers' Signal 39:56 Backroom Poker Game 43:56 The Bribe at the Racetrack 47:56 Redeemed Too Late 51:56 The Locksmith's Favor 55:55 Back Alley Handoff 59:55 Windbreaker in the Rain 01:03:54 The Judge's Study 01:07:54 Amber Streetlights, October 01:11:54 The Pawnshop Lead 01:15:54 The Informant's Payoff 01:19:53 Rooftop Chase 01:23:53 The Last Warm Evening 01:27:53 Cargo Manifest by Flashlight 01:31:53 Fire Escape Stakeout 01:35:53 Bonfire Smoke on Mulberry Street 01:39:53 The Jazz Club Back Door 01:43:52 Case File on the Desk 01:47:51 Hocking the Watch 01:51:50 The Harbor Fog 01:55:50 The Widow's Apartment 01:59:49 Tide Going Out #noirjazz #rainyjazz #vibraphonejazz #autumnjazz #darkjazz
