The landscape becomes increasingly raw and remote. Rugged mountains stretch across the horizon, the roads wind through isolated terrain, and the familiar image of Ladakh begins to give way to something unexpected. At times, the scenery reminds us more of Gilgit than the Ladakh we had imagined before this journey. We hadn't realised just how remote and dramatically different this part of the region would feel until we experienced it ourselves. From Thang, near the India–Pakistan border, we make our way towards Diskit, discovering another side of the Himalayas that few people outside this region get to experience firsthand. This is not just another stretch of road.
