Mitsubishi 9000 HB Pencil Review

This Mitsubishi 9000 HB is a lean, green, writing machine. It is packaged by the dozen in a gold colored box with a cut-away that allows you to see the two-toned green pencils within. The fit and finish of these pencils are of the highest quality, which is amazing considering they are not an overly expensive instrument. These pencils do not have attached erasers, as with most Japanese pencils, but they do sharpen beautifully and literally glide over the paper with a lush and silky stroke. The box says they are for "General Writing' and there is an imprint on each pencil that says "Made by elaborate process," which I must believe is true because they are a delight to use. This is an example of a pencil - and fortunately for me there are many others, as well - that make you want to write for the sheer joy and pleasure of pushing the pencil across the paper. SMUDGE TEST: very low | low | moderate | moderate plus | high I did not do an on-camera smudge test for the Mitsubishi 9000 pencil, but this pencil showed a low graphite smudge.
