From Farmers to a Sustainable Honey Sector in Zambia

In Part 3, we look at the honey market in Zambia and ask what is needed to build a viable and sustainable honey sector. We explore how many small honey producers could form the production base, how better collection and processing could add value, and how successful farmers could gradually develop into beekeepers. We also look at the proposed system of honey production using suspended frame hives and mobile harvesting teams — and at the opportunities and challenges of making such a system work on a larger scale.
