Daisy Edgar-Jones and George MacKay take a seat for Cut! with Everyman — our card game where we put the questions in their hands and see where the conversation goes. Ahead of Sense and Sensibility, the pair talk about the films they recommend to absolutely everyone, with George making the case for Gladiator and Daisy championing Clueless — very different double-bill material, although, as she points out, one of them does have a little Jane Austen in its DNA. Naturally, the cards also bring things back to Sense and Sensibility. For Daisy, the film is ultimately about sisterhood and love in all its forms: familial, platonic and romantic. For George, it’s about balance — with Elinor and Marianne sitting at opposite ends of the head-versus-heart spectrum and gradually learning from one another. And when asked how the finished film made them feel, the answer is essentially: everything. George talks about its romance, humour and heartbreak, while Daisy found himself simply sad to leave its world behind — the sisters, the landscape and the escape from modern life that comes with disappearing into Austen for a couple of hours. Elsewhere, they reveal the last films to genuinely surprise them, talk jump scares and unsettling cinema, and give us perhaps the most important advice of all: bring your bestie, bring your date — or bring both — and always leave time for the post-film debrief. 🎬 About Cut! with Everyman: Consider this your invitation to linger a little longer. CUT! is a card game for the bar, the booth, the bit after - designed to take you past 'did you like it?' into something more interesting. There are two rounds. Take One is about you and cinema: the films that shaped you, the ones that wrecked you, the opinions you'll actually defend. Take Two is about the film you just watched. Take turns drawing cards and answering. There are no right answers - only honest ones. You don't have to play in order. You don't have to finish every card. There's no rush, we're just happy to have you. This time, Daisy Edgar-Jones and George MacKay join us for Sense and Sensibility.
