Discussing his book Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Through the Ages, Tanwar highlighted historical references to Kashmir from Kalhana’s Rajatarangini, Megasthenes, Xuanzang and Abu’l-Fazl. He argued that Kashmir’s history extends far beyond the events of the 19th and 20th centuries. The discussion also explored Kashmiriyat, the region’s multi-faith traditions, the role of literature in recording history, and how competing narratives have shaped perceptions of Kashmir.
