Back to New Loutraki in Greece with the Peugeot 206 WRC in Assetto Corsa Rally v0.6, following a suggestion from @nenadvladisavljevic4256 to switch the engine map to 1.
And that one change made a surprisingly big difference.
Engine Map 1 is much more aggressive and helps the Peugeot pull much harder out of the tight corners, giving noticeably better acceleration where the default map previously felt a little lazy.
The important part is that I still haven't changed the actual car setup.
Same suspension.
Same brakes.
Same differential.
Same brake balance.
Same tire setup.
Yet with only the engine-map change, I managed to set a 3:00.103, moving up to P3 on the world leaderboard.
🔥 Engine Map 1 - Much Stronger Out of Tight Corners
The biggest improvement immediately came under acceleration.
New Loutraki contains several slower corners where getting the car moving quickly again is critical, and the more aggressive engine map makes the Peugeot feel much stronger on corner exit.
Instead of waiting for the engine to build momentum, the car now responds much more aggressively when I get back onto the throttle.
That extra response clearly helped the overall stage time.
But it also introduced another challenge.
🛣️ More Power Means Adjusting the Lines
Because the car now accelerates harder, my previous lines didn't always work perfectly.
In the final sector, I went wider than intended through a couple of corners because the stronger engine response pushed the car out more aggressively than I was expecting.
That definitely cost some time.
So even though the result improved significantly, the run itself was still far from perfect.
With cleaner lines in the final sector alone, there should already be more time available.
⚙️ Default Setup Problems Are Still There
The engine-map change improved acceleration, but it didn't solve the weaknesses I found during the previous run.
The car is still running the default setup, so I am still dealing with:
Bottoming out through compressions
Weak braking performance
Differential settings that could be improved
Brake balance that needs work
Tire pressures and compound that are not ideal
That makes the 3:00.103 and P3 even more encouraging.
There is still a lot left to optimize.
🌿 Using the Inside Ditches
With the default setup, the car still feels quite loose in some corners.
During this run I occasionally used the inside ditches to help pull the car into the corner under acceleration, which meant some of the roadside foliage had to make a small sacrifice along the way.
Despite the visual drama, the car wasn't damaged.
It was simply a case of using as much of the available road and occasionally a little bit beyond it to keep the Peugeot rotating and accelerating through the corner.

🏁 Conclusion
One small change made a very noticeable difference.
Switching to Engine Map 1 gave the Peugeot much stronger acceleration out of the slower corners and was enough to improve the run to 3:00.103, P3 on the world leaderboard.
And that was achieved while still running the same default setup.
The final sector wasn't clean either, with a couple of wider lines costing additional time.
So there is definitely more on the table.
A proper suspension setup, better brakes, differential and brake balance adjustments, optimized tires and a cleaner final sector should all help push the time further.
Peugeot 206 WRC. New Loutraki. Time Attack.
3:00.103 P3 in the world.
And the setup work hasn't even started yet.
Never Give Up.
