"Featured Guest: Madi Winter (Correction at 03:57)".
Madi Winter spent most of her life believing dance was her future. Then, while everyone around her thought she was succeeding, her body began falling apart.
Comparison turned into control. Control over food became an eating disorder she initially couldn't even see. Panic attacks, depression, tremors, hair loss, Lyme disease, Hashimoto's, mold exposure and eventually six months away from home receiving intensive treatment followed.
At one point, Madi wasn't asking when she could dance again.
She was wondering if the pain would ever stop.
But this episode isn't ultimately about sickness.
It's about what happens when the life you planned disappears—and God begins rebuilding something deeper in its place.
Madi shares how suffering changed her relationship with her body, her identity, dance, worship, the Holy Spirit and eventually the people around her. She talks openly about comparison in the dance world, fear around food, surviving one day at a time, surrendering the need to “fix” herself, experiencing God in some of her lowest moments, and eventually rediscovering why she believes she was given the gift of dance in the first place.
Today, Madi teaches dance, helps shape the next generation of young artists, serves others through ministry and describes her life very differently:
“I don't just survive. I'm thriving.”
If you've ever watched your dream change, struggled with comparison, felt trapped inside your own body, or wondered whether God could still be working in a season that makes absolutely no sense—this conversation is for you.
