I have consecrated this house that you have built, by putting my name there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.” The Book of 1 Kings, which recorded the history of Solomon's unified kingdom (1-11) and divided kingdom (12-22) around 562-537 B.C. from the perspective of God's soteriology, illustrates the Israelites repeating the vicious cycle of fall and decline. Moreover, it foreshadows the great hope of Jesus, the 'perfect wise man' who will achieve the glory and peace of the Messianic kingdom through the imperfect wise man, Solomon. As you read through The Book of 1 Kings, which takes 144 minutes, may you experience the grace of God who does not forsake the people he has chosen.
