You Are The Sunshine of My Life Stevie Wonder Bass Cover Request

Hello 😊 Here’s my transcription of Stevie Wonder's song "You Are the Sunshine of My Life". This track comes from his 1972 album Talking Book. The bass player was Scott Edwards. You can find this transcription on Muzento under the Intermediate Songs category. It goes without saying what a beautiful song this is, but I also love the feel and groove they came up with. I'm sure there's a technical Latin music term for it—maybe Bossa Nova or Salsa? Some of the musicians I correspond with are much better at these things than I am. Hopefully one of them will leave a comment and let me know 😊 At any rate, it's a fantastic feel to listen to... and to play! :) Stevie played the drums on the entire album. It sounds like he really wanted to go into double-time near the end of this track. I'd love to hear the full track before they faded it out. Things were getting pretty intense! It would be fascinating to know how long they kept it going and how they ended it. When I first started transcribing the bass part, I thought, "Okay, it's a Bossa." The rhythm looks like one on paper, but Scott doesn't really play it like a traditional Bossa! For me, it's the feel in the second verse. There's something special happening between the way Stevie phrases the melody and the way Scott plays the 8th notes. I tried to capture that essence throughout the rest of the song. The chart reads fairly easily, but watch out for the lines he plays over the G#m7 chord. It's over two bars, and each time he plays them a little differently. And each one is tasty :) Oh, and the last 10 bars or so... they're crazy! I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching 🙏😊 Don’t forget to like and subscribe 😊 -------------- If you appreciate what I do and or find it helpful, I hope you might consider supporting me through the following: ** Signup to the mailing list and get notified every time there's a new transcription! https://gregstranscripts.com/#subscribe Muzento - https://www.muzento.com Patreon -   / gregfairweather   or you can make a donation through PayPal at - https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted... ------------------- Copyright Disclaimer: Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
