What if you stopped trying to know what your painting should look like before you even start? In this video, I’m exploring another way to let go of the image in your head — and avoid the frustration that comes when reality doesn’t match what you imagined. Instead of trying to reproduce a mental image, I start with almost nothing: a horse photo, a few colours, and the simplest elements I can see — shadows, light and volume. The goal isn’t to know where the painting is going. It’s to give yourself enough freedom to discover it as you go. I also leave all the doubts, corrections and moments of hesitation in the video, because creating isn’t always a straight line. Sometimes the best things happen when you stop trying to control the outcome. This approach is especially useful when you feel stuck, have no idea what to paint, or find yourself frustrated because your painting isn’t becoming what you imagined. Try it yourself and see what happens when you start without an image in your head. — ► If you want to go further, I share more in my Studio Practice newsletter: https://benedictegele.myflodesk.com/s... — ► Learn to draw expressive horses (online course): https://artcheval.com/pages/expressiv... — ► Follow my work: Instagram —   / benedicte_gele   #HorseArt #ExpressiveArt #ArtProcess #PaintingProcess #CreativeFreedom
